Grounded CrossFit has allowed me to discover a new side to myself. I have been more consistently active than I have ever been. Every time I step foot in the gym, I am excited to work toward my goals surrounded by others who share the same motivation. It is also so exciting to see others crush their skills and personal records. And just when you feel like you want to give up, there is always someone in the background cheering you on.
When I started, I never would have thought that I would be able to lift heavy weights, participate in intense workouts, get my first pull up, and meet amazing people! I couldn’t have done it without the help of the coaches who are helpful and the support of my friends at the gym, who are always so encouraging. I have come a long way, and I look forward to seeing what else I will accomplish.
I am thankful for this place for showing me that progress is not just about practicing skills, it’s about keeping a positive mindset and trusting yourself. Thanks to Grounded CrossFit, CrossFit is now a lifestyle, and I don’t know who I would be physically, mentally, and emotionally if I hadn’t found CrossFit at the moment I did!
Eight months ago I walked into Grounded on the heels of a failed PT test, a physical fitness test at work. I realized I needed a change; I didn’t really know exactly how to make it, but I walked in and asked for help. I found what I was expecting with regards to the weights and the movements, but what I wasn’t expecting was such a positive atmosphere with not just the coaching but the community as a whole. I made fast friends with all the people in there and I kept coming back…
I started CrossFit at the end of September 2016. I initially joined a 6 Week New You Challenge group at Grounded CrossFit in Hanover…I didn’t really know what CrossFit was. I know a couple of people who did it, and they loved it, and they would invite me to go workout with them. I wouldn’t, I was scared. I didn’t think I could do it although I didn’t know what it was.
Pat, the owner, he is very down to earth, made me very comfortable…and he was confident that I would love it and he was right! It’s like personal training in a group environment. Everyone is there to better themselves in some form.
The energy at Grounded CrossFit is non-judgmental, super positive, and oh so infectious. And even though sometimes I feel like I may die during the WOD, I leave feeling energized and accomplished. It’s truly addicting (in a good way).
“Grounded Crossfit is a great gym. The staff is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and personable and their members are very friendly. I play in several amateur soccer leagues in Baltimore. Since joining Grounded I have seen marked improvement in both power and endurance. On the soccer field this has equated to me being faster and able to play harder and longer than opponents that are up to a decade younger than me. The Grounded coaches have taught me how to properly and safely perform many technical lifts such as the Snatch, Power Clean, Clean & Jerk, and Clean & Press, and helped me to improve the form and technique of my Squat, Deadlift, and Bench Press. I would recommend the Grounded Crossfit gym to anyone who is interested in improving their strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, and overall health.”
The picture below on the left was taken in August of 2014, I had just completed my first week of workouts at Grounded Crossfit. The photo on the right was taken May 2015, the uniform size is the same. My experience the last 10 months at Grounded can be seen on my face. I am happier, healthier and more confident. The moment I walked through the doors I knew I had found a home. All of the coaches truly have a strong passion and knowledge to make you a better athlete and improve your overall health….and it doesn’t stop there. The members at Grounded Crossfit go beyond the “Crossfit community”….here we are a family. Accomplishments are celebrated together and struggles are fought through…together.
